The power of temporary people

Sometimes people come into your life but your time together is only temporary. And that’s OK because maybe that's the way it's supposed to be?

Maybe their role was to show you something you needed? Maybe their role was to be part of one chapter in order to make your future chapters better?

Temporary people serve to show you something you needed to see, teach you something you needed to learn or open your eyes to something you needed to realize.

Temporary isn’t a reflection of what you lost. It’s a reflection of what you needed.

How eye opening is that?! It’s easy to look back and become defeated by the fact that some people and experiences were only temporary in your life.

It’s easy to look back and think they were supposed to be permanent but you dropped the ball and that's why they became temporary.

But what if you hit pause for just one minute?

What if you asked yourself… maybe they were supposed to be temporary?

Maybe some experiences are SUPPOSED to be temporary? Maybe that person came into your life for one specific purpose and once it's fulfilled… they leave just as they were designed to?

Maybe their chapter in your life is purposeful to make another chapter the most rewarding one for you?

Maybe not everything is meant to be long lasting?

Consider this... Life isn’t about coming up with one view of life when you're young and then just rocking with it forever.

Life is about evolving, adapting and growing your mindset, your views, your standards, your boundaries, etc.

Temporary people and experiences fuel that growth!

- Temporary people and experiences come into your life when things are fine in order to bring out more in you.

- Temporary people and experiences come into your life when things aren’t good to help you find myself and overcome those things.

They’re meant to make you better in some way. They’re meant to teach you in some way.

Think about how you came to learn certain things in your life...

How did you learn your standards, your boundaries, what makes you tick, how to be vulnerable, etc.?

Temporary people and experiences!

You needed to learn those things in order to become the complete person you are today and more than likely... a temporary person or experience played a role in helping you learn them.

That temporary person or circumstance might no longer be in your life but what they taught you still is. You needed them. You needed them to awaken something inside of you. You needed them to show you that side of yourself.

You thought it was forever but as life goes it was only temporary. And you can either accept that with grace or you can hang onto it and play the self blame game. It’s up to you!

The key to living a purposeful and compassionate life is to embrace what temporary people give you.

Certainly there are circumstances where there is very little redeeming about what that person gave you. I get that. But in the long run temporary people and experiences serve you ways you might not realize until later.

Temporary isn’t a reflection of what you lost. It’s a reflection of what you needed. It’s a reflection of what you'll come to need.
